Under the direction of the Life Safety Director and Unit Nurse Manager of the Intensive Care Unit, the Rapid Response Team (RRT-RN) Nurse works to provide direct application of clinical expertise to adult patients anywhere in the tertiary care, academic Campus of the Medical Center. The major role functions of the RRT Nurse include clinical practice, consultation, communication, education, and leadership. Communication and collaboration with all levels of healthcare providers is essential to attaining success in this position.
The RRT Nurse is a professional nurse who demonstrates the skills necessary to provide expert nursing care of the adult acute care patient in distress or deemed to be high risk for acute decomposition. The RRT RN will evaluate, triage and provide goal directed interventions for patients as needed. Potential examples include adult stat airway, code blue, code white, and Hitchcock Early Response Team (HERT) calls.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
ü Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program
ü Registered Nurse in the State of New Hampshire
ü For newly graduated/ licensed nurses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required
ü Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses with 5 years' experience *
ü Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses with a non-nursing Bachelor's Degree *
ü Internal and Affiliate Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses *
ü Affiliate Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses with 2 years' experience *
* All Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses must commit to completing a BSN or higher nursing degree within 10 years of their hire date.
A minimum of three years of acute hospital care and critical care experience required. ACLS Required. Maintain critical advanced nursing competencies. CCRN required or completed within 1 year of hire in the position. Desired skills include: critical thinking, strong leadership abilities, autonomy, communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and computer use. Desired qualities and behaviors include: collaborative team player, use of systems approach in planning, problem solving, and decision making, creativity, innovation, risk taking, autonomy, flexibility, receptiveness to change, and a commitment to professional growth.
