Job Posting: The RN supports the physician, nursing staff and Medical Assistants in the delivery of health care by performing a variety of patient care assessments, medically related tasks and oversight responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1.Assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and delivery of patient care.
2.Demonstrates clinical competency and technical skills for general and specialty patient populations.
3.Utilizes nursing process to perform, coordinate and supervise patient assessments, develop and revise patient care plans, and provide nursing interventions.
4.Triages phone calls using approved protocols and documents per established standards.
5.Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements in delegation of tasks and in documentation.
6.Demonstrates critical thinking and performance in the coordination, implementation and documentation of patient care and consistently performs according to the standards of the profession.
7.Provides and documents patient, family education and teaching.
8.Demonstrates knowledge about protection of human subjects in research, approval of research through the Research Compliance Office, and control of research projects in the clinical area.
9.Greet patients and provide an initial nursing evaluation as needed.
10.Oversees and manages patient care flow, taking a leader role within the suite.
11.Prepare patients for provider by reviewing current medications and record in medical record as needed.
12.Takes appropriate vital signs and record in medical record as needed.
13.Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs.
14.Assist provider in examination/procedure rooms as needed.
15.Perform designated diagnostic tests as directed by provider.
16.Draw, prepare designated lab work and/or specimens as directed by provider.
17.Administer immunization, injections, oral or IV medications as directed by provider.
18.Use PRN/Smart Talk systems to convey lab results to patients as defined by provider.
19.Assist in follow-up scheduling needs.
20.Answer patient calls, questions and addresses problems in timely fashion.
21.Prepare charts as needed, including filing into appropriate sections of medical record and assures that all pertinent items are available to provider before patient care commences.
22.Ability to assist two or more providers with clinical care.
23.Handles all designated clinical care telephone interactions with provider input.
24.Communicates all significant clinical findings to MD.
25.Serves as an advocate for patient and utilizes appropriate resources.
26.Acts as a role model in providing care; precepts new staff.
27.Provide orientation and training for new clinical staff.
28.Recommend areas of improvement.
29.Serves as liaison with other departments, facilities, and hospital.
30.Assess workflow of nursing staff and/or MA; schedule accordingly, covering absences, illnesses, and breaks.
31.Provide review of nursing and/or MA skills and performance abilities using designated evaluation tools.
32.Train nursing and/or MA staff about systems needed to perform current job duties, including, but not limited to scheduling systems, PRN/Smart Talk systems, lab results systems.
33.Assist in oversight of QA/QC measures for suites.
34.Helps to assure that necessary staff meet certifications and licensing requirements.
35.Assists with, and as necessary, performs administrative functions to include answering and triaging telephone calls for patient care matters, chart preparation for clinical care, loose filing, and assisting with appointment scheduling.
36.Assists with administrative support activities as delegated.
37.Assists with controlling wage and non-wage expenses including pharmacy and medical supplies in accordance with the budgetary guidelines set by the Organization.
38.Works in a collaborative role with other leads, the managers and related offices or organizations

Qualification Requirements/Preferences:
Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities 1.Certification from accredited school and current California RN licensure to practice.
2.3 - 5 or more years of experience in outpatient medical setting with specialty in Urgent Care, Emergency Room or EMT experience required.
3.Phlebotomy certified.
4.IV certified.
5.Current CPR certification.
6.Proven customer service and patient care skills.
7.Understanding of patient care flow and insurance concepts.
8. Ability to correctly set up exam rooms/procedure rooms using sterile/aseptic technique with appropriate instruments or trays.
9. Ability to prepare patient for office visit/procedures.
10. Ability to correctly perform vital signs and accurately document and record significant data.
11. Ability to correctly prepare lab work/specimens for pick up.
12. Ability to perform designated testing and specimen collection.
13. Understanding of cleaning, sterilization of autoclaving procedures.
14. Ability to determine current medications that patient is using and record accurately.
15. Understanding of pharmacology and medication administration including oral, SQ, IM and IV medications.
16. Ability to perform and record QC testing on designated equipment and determine areas needing improvement.
17. Ability to problem solve and prioritize work assignments.
18. Ability to schedule "nurse visits" for phlebotomy, testing or other procedures.
19. Ability to handle provider correspondence and communications as related to clinical care.
20. Understanding of medical supply ordering and cost containment.
21. Leadership abilities preferred.
22. Strong interpersonal skills, especially in the areas of patient and physician relations.
23. Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft office, IDX, or other computerized practice management systems preferred.
