We are looking to add a compassionate, safety focused, organized Acute Care Nurse Manager to join our Acute Care Nursing team. The Acute Care Nurse Manager will provide exceptional patient care, have solid organizational skills, able to carry out tasks effectively with minimal supervision and committed to delivering the highest quality health care to our patients and their families.


The Acute Care Nurse Manager is responsible for the development, supervision and coordination of all nursing services provided within the overall nursing services department.  Serves as the Trauma Nurse Coordinator, in conjunction with the Paramedic Team Leader.  Leader ensures effective communication of up-to-date information within nursing services and across departments to encourage teamwork and safe patient transitions and handoffs.  Provides supervision of personnel and oversight of daily operations including Medical/Surgical, Emergency Department and Obstetrics.  Hold team members accountable for consistent delivery of compassionate and exceptional patient care and service excellence through performance, quality, and behavior standards and expectations.

Serves as Service Excellence champion including implementation, competencies, and hardwiring of service excellence initiatives.
Overseas formulations of department goals and objectives, plans and programs in alignment with the overall Medical Center goals and objectives, plans and programs; ensures plans and programs are properly executed and an effective feedback process is utilized which communicates the overall condition and trends in each area and all important activities affecting them.
Oversees the departmental budgetary procedure to ensure proper operational and capital planning; appropriate and efficient use of resources; and consistent compliance to budgetary and fiscal controls.
Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retaining and evaluating of team members.
Ensures team member development opportunities are discussed monthly.
Keeps informed of current issues including new procedures, developments, and innovation.  Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Performs service excellence initiatives such as:  AIDET, Key Words, Managing Up, 10/5 Rule, Reward and Recognition and Service Recovery when applicable.
Performs Evidence Based Leadership Practices including; LEM goals, 90 day action plans, staff development, LDI participation and linkage grid assignment completion, utilizing the department meeting model, reward and recognition programs, thank you notes, performance evaluations and H/M/L conversations, and rounding on team members and patients (if applicable).
Ensures consistent leadership among RN-Team Leaders and the Paramedic Team Leader to ensure unification of the nursing services department.
Promotes effective communication, collaboration, quality, and efficiency between departments and managers within and outside the nursing services department.
Ensures consistent staff rounding of team members.
Ensures consistent practice of best practices such as SBAR, AIDET, hourly rounding, post discharge phone calls, etc.
Responsible for the overall quality of care delivered to patients including implementation, execution, follow up, and measurement through nursing services and in alignment with the overall Medical Center Quality Plan.
Responsible for a robust communication plan for the nursing division including monthly meetings, change of shift report, physician – nursing communication, etc. to support effective and up-to-date communication.
Serves as a connection between day and night shift, creating desired shift-to-shift teamwork and care consistency.
Coordinates nursing schedule.  Plans with Chief Nursing Officer for appropriate utilization of resources.
Responds to and resolves concerns, problems and potential problems that are reported by staff, providers, and patients.
Performs review of medication errors and provides process analysis to prevent the recurrence of errors.
Responsible to meet CAH guidelines and regulations.
Assists CNO in initiatives related to overall physician satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and patient satisfaction results in the nursing services department.  Works with and through others to get positive organizational results.
Coordinates work hours to accomplish clinical workload as well as administrative responsibilities.
Serves as Trauma Coordinator with the Paramedic Team Leader providing assistance
Works in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director.
Organizes the trauma services and system.
Coordinates educational, clinical, research, administrative and outreach activities of the trauma program.
Responsible for the trauma registry data abstraction and submission to the regional trauma registry.
Has day to day responsibility for process and performance improvement activities for nursing and ancillary staff and assist the Trauma Medical Director with physicians (not at basic levels)

Coordinates necessary Trauma Education along with the Paramedic Team Lead.
Develops lesson plans, orientation checklists, policies and procedures, and education timelines for the organization.
Provide staff support for patient care day and/or night shift as needed.


Working in a fast-paced setting
Graduation from a professional nursing program  – required  
Current NE Registered Nurse licensure – required
Minimum 3 years’ experience in direct patient care in a hospital setting – required
Previous supervisory experience – required
Previous OB experience – preferred
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required within 2 years of hire
Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required within 2 years of hire
Certification in Trauma Nursing Course Certified (TNCC) – required within 2 years of hire
Fetal Monitoring Training – highly desired
