The Unit Nurse Manager/Chief Flight Nurse (UNM/CFN) for DHART is responsible for the oversight of the clinical care provided by DHART, ensuring that appropriate standards are met or exceeded. The UNM/CFN reports to the DHART Program Director. Manages the hiring process for Flight Nurses and Flight Paramedics; Evaluates and manages performance of staff members; Plans staffing and adjustments on a daily basis; Develops, implements, and evaluates unit and organizational policies, procedures, and goals; Provides leadership, consultation and collaboration with the director and other members of the health care team to design, evaluate and improve patient care systems and processes; Encourages, supports, and provides educational opportunities for staff development; Provides input regarding operational and capital budgets for the department; Assumes accountability for quality and regulatory management directive; Ensures quality and appropriateness of patient care. Facilitates and monitors activities related to the delivery of patient care, ensuring evidenced based practice and minimum nursing/paramedic practice standards are achieved in the clinical area; Strategizes to improve efficiency and eliminate barriers that impact patient and family centered care; Provides for professional growth and development of patient care staff; Assists and participates in the orientation of new staff in collaboration with Flight Nurse Educator; Supports education and staff development through participation and support of nursing research, education, informatics, quality and patient safety, professional development, and Shared Governance; Supports and/or participates in research programs. Provides DHART Leadership on Call coverage. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 2 years of flight nursing experience and demonstrated leadership ability as well as an RN license in the state of New Hampshire. A Master's degree is preferred. Candidates must also possess excellent informatics, verbal, and written communication skills. Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) specialty certification required. Experience with CAMTS accreditation standards is preferred.
