Job Summary:

The Admissions Lead collaborates with a multi-disciplinary integrated team to provide safe, efficient and real-time decisions for patient throughput for Florida Hospital’s multi-campus system during evenings, nights and weekends. The Admissions Lead tracks length of stay (LOS) and avoidable delays and provides a daily hand-off report to the Admissions Supervisor. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

Master’s in Social Work (if not a current validly licensed Florida Registered Nurse)
Minimum of one year of experience working with inpatient psychiatric patients and the Baker Act process
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strategic knowledge base to provide barrier removal and direction to staff within the Center for Behavioral Health (CBH)
Comprehensive knowledge of the Baker Act process
Ability to maintain effective working relationships within the Center for Behavioral Health
Ability to organize and prioritize job duties in an efficient and timely manner
Scheduling flexibility: ability to work evenings, nights and weekends

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

Current valid State of Florida license as a Registered Nurse (if no Master’s in Social Work)

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital’s Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program

Provides leadership and direction to CBH Admissions Team pertaining to patient throughput. Ensures compliance in insurance pre-certifications, mitigates barriers to timely patient disposition, and on-call 24/7 support to the CBH Admissions Team. Assists Admissions Supervisor with scheduling and provides back-up coverage for workflow continuity.
Performs Quality Assurance to ensure compliance measures are met during evenings/nights/weekends and provides daily report to the Admissions Supervisor. Meets weekly with CBH Operations Manager and Admissions Supervisor for operational collaboration.
Performs evenings/overnight/weekends rounding through Florida Hospital Orlando Emergency Department (ED) to identify and mitigate patient throughput barriers. Collaborates with the Court Team and Admissions Supervisor to ensure Baker Act compliance.
Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of payers, identifies patients incorrectly classified as uninsured and researches to confirm correct classification. Resolves insurance pre-certification issues and participates in strategies to maximize capturing front-end payer authorization and reimbursement.
Participates in developing systemic strategies and departmental processes, policies and standard operating procedures (SOP), and maintains effective contract knowledge of payer mix for effective financial management.
Develops and tracks patient throughput data including LOS and avoidable delays, providing weekly/monthly reports to CBH Senior Director and Operations Manager.
Participates in annual performance evaluations, assists with ensuring timely compliance in education requirements, staff work schedules, coaching and integration of positive progressive discipline action as necessary.
Liaises with the Bed Management department, Emergency Transfer Center (ETC), psychiatric nursing units, ancillary departments and community Baker Act receiving facilities to optimize timely patient placement for the Florida Hospital system.
