Patient Placement Coordinator – Florida Hospital for Children – Orlando – Part Time
Florida Hospital for Children seeks to hire a Patient Placement Coordinator who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Since opening our doors in 1908, Florida Hospital has offered one of the most comprehensive children’s health programs in Central Florida. Today, we continue this legacy of pediatric excellence at the Magnet® recognized Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children. Our campus is home to 30 pediatric sub-specialties led by a team of 400+ nurses and physicians. We provide specialized care in various state-of-the-art settings, including an 81-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with private family-centered rooms, an Advanced Center for Pediatric Surgery handling nearly 4,000 cases each year, and one of the few pediatric oncology programs in the area. We’re also Central Florida’s only pediatric provider for bone marrow transplant, kidney transplant, Gamma Knife services, trilogy radiation and Level III epilepsy care. But perhaps most exciting of all, is that this is the first-and only-hospital to bear the Disney® name.
Varies, 36 hours per pay period
The (Logistics) Patient Placement Coordinator is a professional registered nurse who has the responsibility to plan, prioritize, organize, direct, and control all admissions and transfers between nursing units and hospitals for the Florida Hospital. Acts as a liaison between referring hospitals, physicians, offices, and nursing department on issues pertaining to the placement of all patients. Participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
Leadership ability; ability to accept responsibility, exercise authority and function independently.
Integrity, imagination, and initiative as evidenced by self-improvement.
Ability to apply principles of administration in an organization.
A broad nursing and cardiovascular knowledge to may serve as a resource person when necessary.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications Outlook, Work, Excel.
Graduate of a school of nursing.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Current Florida professional registered nurse licensure

Maintains communication with referring physicians and transferring hospitals regarding anticipated bed availability or access delays. (Excellence)
Evaluates all available heart hospital beds and develops contingency bed management plans with operational charge staff to ensure daily patients operations are not interrupted. Reports any occurrences of interrupted patient operations to director. (Excellence)
Responsible for patient placement operations within the Hospital to ensure that patients are admitted or transferred between units or hospital in a timely manner in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, and according to nursing care requirements. (Stewardship)
Continuously re-evaluates patient placement requests and adjusts staffing and bed management plans accordingly. (Stewardship)
