JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of Assistant Chief Operating Officer, the Operating Room Utilization Coordinator will contribute to the overall operation and efficiency of the perioperative areas. This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of continuous professional and practice development initiatives in line with DHRHS strategic goals. The Operating Room Utilization Coordinator will assure that activities and/or operations to include quality care services, efficiency management and cost effective management of hospital operations are appropriately integrated into the strategic plan for DHRHS. This position will also be instrumental in the development of accountable culture employees.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.  Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
Supports and participates in performance improvement efforts.
To develop a high performing team of employees who work to key performance indicators and who are held to account in terms of delivery.
To ensure the highest level of operational engagement and involvement in the development and delivery of clinical services.
Ensures that DHR HS meets and exceed all national and local targets and standards.
Facilitates development  of the healthcare delivery system through integration and standardization of operations across and between all facilities of the health system and its affiliates
Ensures compliance with Federal, State, TJC and all other regulations and standards.
Directs and manages the delivery of services and patient care which are integrated with business plans and meet or exceed cost, quality, clinical, and utilization standards and performance measures.
Develops strategies to ensure that all members of the management team are furnished with timely, accurate and appropriate information to manage effective change.
Works closely with OR leadership team to monitor and evaluate the efficient management of programs across the system.
Ensures that services meet members', physician and internal clients' needs in a changing, competitive health care market.
Helps develop, coordinates, implements and monitors processes to ensure the integration of strategic direction and operational goals.
Will facilitate organizational change, where needed, to reach the objectives of the health system in assuring success in the value based purchasing environment.
Develop and maintain active engagement with front line staff.
Implements changes in overall administrative policies and procedures to more effectively carry out organizational objectives.
Supports operating departments in achieving annual program goals related to quality and financial metrics.
Ensures that outcome metrics in line with DHRHS initiatives to include safety are met.
Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor degree in health care or related field.
Experience in management of multiple operations in hospitals or healthcare systems
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE­:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in management in health care arena
Demonstrated knowledge of operations and healthcare management; TJC and other local, state and federal regulations.
Acute knowledge of healthcare industry and administration including, operations, patient care, medical staff relationships, finance, planning, and quality improvement.
Demonstrated success with labor management and efficiency initiatives
Demonstrated ability to lead, relationship building, responsiveness, and integrity.
