POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse Trauma Program Manager (TPM) is responsible for the management of the Trauma Services program at DHR with includes, but is not limited to: policy development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of trauma patient care practices; supervision of the Trauma Registry in accordance with all federal, state, and local guideline; and provides trauma and injury prevention education opportunities to hospital staff, EMS providers, and the community. JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: •2 years Trauma Care experience, 1 year experience in an Emergency care setting, preferred. Experience as a Trauma Coordinator or Analyst preferred •Involves general guidance and direction by the Director of Certifications. Person needs to be a self-starter with little to no supervision needed on an ongoing basis. The TPM is expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established policies and procedures •Requires excellent interpersonal skills with families in crisis. •Knowledge of State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations.
POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: •Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program •Must possess current Registered Nurse license for the State of Texas •Current BLS certification upon hire •ACLS and PALS within six (6) months of hire •TNCC or ATCN within one (1) year of hire •Some of these certifications may be satisfied by other approved, equivalent courses. These require Director’s approval and will be determined on a case-by-case basis. •Continuing education in trauma related/clinical care topics •Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. •Good written and verbal communication skills required. •Bilingual preferred – English/Spanish. RESPONSIBILITES: •Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices. •Responsible for insuring the facility meets requirements to maintain its Trauma Center designation •Evaluates appropriate care of trauma patients throughout the continuum of care •Works with the Trauma Medical Director and Departmental Liaisons to ensure ongoing quality care for trauma patients. •Conducts audit reviews of all trauma charts and identifies PI/QI issues •Responsible for PI/QI trauma process in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director •Provides input in continuing education programs for medical staff, nursing staff and other health care professionals providing care to trauma patients. •Ensures the Trauma Registry is accurate and state submission is timely •Develops and presents Trauma Education for the community •Provides staff education in various formats •Coordinates regularly scheduled Trauma Committee and Trauma Peer Review Meetings •Other duties as assigned.
