JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the administrative oversight of Behavioral Hospital. Coordinates operations of the department. Assists in formulating budget, evaluates department performance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Overview of system of reviewing department charges. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Requires strong communication and organizational skills. Requires reasoning ability and excellent independent judgment. Must present a professional image. Requires working with frequent interruptions. Ability to maintain control and respond calmly and positively during crisis situations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: College Degree - Bachelors Degree in Health Care or Bachelors in Business 5 plus years experience in Behavioral services operations Valid Texas Driver’s License POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversees operations of behavioral hospital. Reviews reports regarding behavioral services, i.e., utilization, performance improvement, service data, outcome data, productivity, including long term capital budget and short term operational budget. 2. Oversees the performance improvement program in coordination with the all departmental supervisor/committee within the department. 3. Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities. 4. Provides education to staff on performance improvement. 5. Acts as a liaison between patients/families/physicians/administration. Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team. 6. Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to personnel and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions. 7. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control. 8. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. 9. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to be a resource person for staff members, physicians and the facility.
