POSITION SUMMARY: This position ensures quality services by acting as a liaison between all potential clients including general public, physicians, physician office staff, and hospital staff. The Office Manager will coordinate the staffing of front desk, medical assistants, and take care of the needs of physicians and providers. Office manager will also oversee the plan, organization, scheduling and direct the daily operations of the medical assistants. Office Manager will oversee and monitor the billing process of the outside billing company, and implement and enforces operating policies, procedures, and standards. Our plan is to develop a patient centered medical home (PCMH). To function as a PCMH, inter-professional care is mandatory. Collaboration with planning, executing, and evaluating is a part of PCMH and requires excellent interpersonal skills. In addition, since we are a teaching program, working with learners is also required.
POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. • Minimum five (5) years demonstrated leadership in a health care organization preferred. • Licensed vocational nurse required, with a current license in the State of Texas. • Graduate of accredited school of vocational nursing required. • Current BLS certification. • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (state, federal and The Joint Commission, or other relevant area). • Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues. • Organizational skills are required along with good written and verbal communication skills. • Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Internet, and practice mgmt software. • Requires reasoning ability, good independent judgment and organizational skills • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures within their field of expertise. • CPR Certification required within six months of hire. • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills. • Ability to read, write and speak English • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management including: nursing, administration, and physicians • Medical office experience is preferred. JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE¬: • Five (5) years experience in a healthcare setting as Office Manager. • Experience in a supervisory position is strongly preferred. • Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment. • Business office experience required, duties to include but not limited to: the oversight of billing, collections, denial and appeals operations. • Ability to interact with providers on a personal and professional level, will work with students, residents, and faculty in an academic/clinical environment. • Able to work with inter-professional teams • Able to understand tenets and function of Meaningful Use, QI, Patient safety and PCMH. • Requires working with frequent interruptions. • Must project a professional image.
